A 3D printer that creates metal objects has been created in Russia

A 3D printer capable of printing metal objects has been created in the Technopark of St. Petersburg, writes Rambler.

The “Sokol-1” printer is planned to be used for the production of exoskeletons, with the help of which a person can lift loads up to 65 kg, as well as recover from severe injuries and lesions of the musculoskeletal system.

Details of exoskeletons on a 3D printer are melted step by step using metal powder and a laser. To prevent oxidation of the heated metal during the creation process, an inert gas, argon, is used.

With the help of a 3D printer, it was possible to produce parts for the exoskeleton in just two days, however, large-scale production is not yet planned.
