Members of the Port Control Groups of the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashy (Turkmenistan) and the International Sea Port of Alyat (Azerbaijan) took part in a joint practical training on container traffic control.
According to the website of the customs civil service of Turkmenistan, the training was organized by the Regional Office in Central Asia of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in the framework of the Global Program of UNODC and the World Customs Organization.
The event, which was over 5 days, was aimed at increasing the level of knowledge and experience of the members of the Port Control Groups in order to minimize the risk of maritime transport being used for the trade in various illegal goods and other organized criminal activities.
During the practical training, the participants exchanged experience, jointly analyzed shipping documents and inspected cargo, as well as profiling passenger lists in the directions of Turkmenbashy-Alat and back, the source notes.
