The Central Council of the Women's Union of Turkmenistan and the National Trade Union Center traditionally hold a competition among craftswomen for making felt mats Gülüň Owadan! (“Your patterns are beautiful!”).
Qualifying etrap and city stages of the competition have already started.
The purpose of the competition is to identify new types of ornaments and unique ways of making beautiful samples of felt carpets - koshma. The competition traditionally includes three rounds: the story of craftswomen about the felt felting tools used and their technique for making felt, a visual demonstration and a creative performance dedicated to the beauty of the Turkmen felt.
In Ashgabat, the qualifying round has already passed, the best craftswomen of the capital have emerged, these are: Nartach Muhammetnazarova and Ogultach Tagandurdiyeva.
In the velayats, on the basis of qualifying etrap rounds, the winners will also be identified, who will perform in the final of the competition in Ashgabat on July 26.
