Within the framework of the forum “International transport and transit corridors: interconnection and development – 2023” (ITTC-2023), held in Ashgabat on May 3-4, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen Association of International Road Carriers signed an Addendum to the Agreement on the Guarantee of International Road Carriers Transport (TIR) dated February 02, 2001 regarding the use of the TIR procedure by electronic data interchange.
As reported on the website of the customs service, the document regulates the movement of goods under the TIR procedure using electronic data interchange, which are considered legal evidence of the implementation of the TIR operation.
International road transport covered by the Additional Agreement may be accompanied by a printed document, which is the functional equivalent of a TIR Carnet, the source notes.
