Men better understand emotions through emoticons

European scientists have come to the conclusion that men decipher the expression of a woman's face worse, but they perceive emoticons and emoji better, writes the Daily Mail.

At the same time, women, on the contrary, better understand the mood of a person by the expression of his face than with the help of graphic images.

An experiment was conducted with the participation of 96 students of both genders, who were asked to peer at photographs of people with an expression of happiness, disgust, surprise or anger for a couple of seconds.

The same was then repeated with emojis. The result clearly showed that men are better at identifying emoticons, but there were problems with the emotions of real people. Women, on the other hand, easily read the emotions of people precisely from photographs.

It is assumed that men prefer emoji because they are less ambiguous than human facial expressions.

Emoticons have become a popular way to convey your emotions to the interlocutor during correspondence, when there are not enough words or time to describe your mood in detail.
