The Iranian national football team has begun preparations for the test match against the Russian team, reports IRNA.
The national teams of Russia and Iran will play a friendly match on March 23. The meeting will be held in Tehran at the “Azadi” stadium and will start at 22:00 Ashgabat time.
Today, the Iranian team held its first training session under the guidance of specialist Amir Galenoi, who replaced the Portuguese Carlos Queiroz at this post.
The Iranian national team previously took part in the final stage of the World Cup in Qatar, playing in the same group with England, Wales and the United States. In three matches, the team scored three points, which allowed it to take only the third place of the quartet, losing the first two places to England and the USA.
Earlier it was also reported that forward of Turkmen origin Serdar Azmoun will not take part in the March training camp of the Iranian national team. The player will miss the friendly matches against the national teams of Russia and Kenya.
