More than 13 projects worth more than 11 billion USD are being implemented in Turkmenistan by Korean companies. This was stated by the chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, at a meeting with representatives of business circles of the Republic of Korea, which was held in Seoul within the framework of an official visit to this country by the head of the upper house of the Turkmen parliament, reports the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper today.

“To date, more than 13 projects with the participation of Korean companies have been registered in Turkmenistan for a total amount of over eleven billion USD”, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

According to him, the largest Korean companies - Hyundai Corporation, LX International Corp., Daewoo Engineering and Construction - have been successfully operating in the Turkmen market for a long time in such important segments as transport, gas, chemical industry, etc.

“We welcome such cooperation, we will encourage and support it”, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized, also stating with satisfaction the successful Turkmen-Korean cooperation in gas processing at one of the giant fields in the world – “Galeigysh”.

Among the successfully implemented large projects with the participation of LX International Corp. the construction of a gas chemical complex for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene in the west of Turkmenistan, the installation of road safety systems and the provision of consulting services were named.
