Ashgabat will host a high-level meeting of the Group of Friends of Neutrality for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development on December 10, reports newscentralasia.net.

The Group of Friends of Neutrality is an informal association and serves as a platform for maintaining a broad multilateral dialogue on the practical implementation of the principles of neutrality in preventing conflicts, eliminating their causes and consequences, and resolving humanitarian issues under the auspices of the UN.

The forthcoming meeting of the High-Level Panel will consider future institutional steps to define the format and working methods of this multilateral dialogue as a tool for strengthening global peace and security.

The proposals and decisions made on the format and working methods of the Group will be summarized in a Ministerial Declaration.

Let us remind that the Group of Friends of Neutrality was established at the UN at the end of August 2020 at the proposal of Turkmenistan, which became one of the main measures to expand the use of the institution of neutrality to improve the international political climate. To date, more than 20 countries have joined the Group.
