The women's tennis team of Turkmenistan beat the team of Tajikistan in the qualifying stage of the tennis Billie Jean King Cup, in the 2nd group of the Asia and Oceania zone, which is held in Dushanbe.

The Turkmen tennis players were stronger than their rivals both in two single confrontations and in the final doubles game.

Meryem Muhammedova beat in two sets Gulnozahon Yahyaeva – 6:0, 6:0, and Anastasiya Azimbayeva won Anastasiya Tursunova – 6:3, 7:6.

Meryem Muhammedova and Anastasiya Azimbayeva are pupils of the captain of the men's team of Turkmenistan, the coach of the “Ashgabat” tennis club Mirali Hasanov.

After Aisha Bekbulatova in pair with Rojan Karajayeva were stronger than the Tajik duet Malika Rahimova/ Sumaya Tuhtayeva - 6:0, 6:1.

In “B” Group, besides the national teams of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, the national team of Pakistan and Mongolia will perform.

Earlier the Mongolian team beat the national team of (3:0).

The meeting of the national teams Turkmenistan and Mongolia will be on August 23. On August 25 the match between the teams of Turkmenistan and Pakistan is scheduled.

In “A” Group perform the teams from Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Guam, Brunei. According to the results of the group stage, the winners of the two groups will enter the playoffs. Only one team will receive a ticket to Group I of the Asia and Oceania zone of the Davis Cup.
