Turkmenistan sees a great potential in cooperation with the Russian Federation on the “North – South” corridor and intends to join it. It was stated by the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov at a briefing in Ashgabat, reports ria.ru.
Meredov noted that Turkmenistan will continue its partnership with the Russian colleagues in the sphere of railway, automobile, air, sea and other types of transport.
“We have big potentials, in particular, within the frame of “North – South” corridor” – stressed the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Rashid Meredov also reminded that the agreement on the “North – South” international transport corridor came into force in 2000. The founders of this corridor are Russia, Iran and India. “Today Turkmenistan has started the procedures for joining this agreement,” he said.
