The Gomel “Lokomotiv” midfielder Wepa Jumayev has received a call-up to the youth team of Turkmenistan to participate in the group stage of the Asian Football Cup, reports the press service of the Belarusian club.
The national team of Turkmenistan will start preparing for the Asian Cup on May 17 in Antalya (Turkey).
For the 21 years old football player, the call to the youth team was the first in his career. This season, Jumayev has played 6 matches for “Lokomotiv” in the first league of Belarus in football. In the 2021 season, he played 33 matches (2653) in the First League of Belarus, in which he scored 1 goal and provided 2 assists. The team finished the season in 6th place. In the Cup of Belarus-2021, the footballer played 3 matches.
Earlier, Jumayev played for the Ashgabat club “Kopetdag” and Rogachev “Dnepr”.
Wepa Jumayev is studying at the Gomel State Technical University.
The Asian Youth Cup will be held in Uzbekistan, 16 teams will participate in the tournament, which are divided into four groups of four participants. The group stage will last from 1 to 7 June. The Turkmenistan national team will play the games of the group stage of the tournament in Tashkent, the first match against the team of Uzbekistan will be held on June 1 at the “Pakhtakor” stadium. Also, Turkmen football players will meet with the teams of Iran (June 4, “Bunyodkor” stadium) and Qatar (June 7, “Bunyodkor” stadium).
