In accordance with the tasks of the country's development in a new historical period, called "The Revival of New Era of Powerful State", the Basic Law of Turkmenistan needs improving. Today, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated it at a meeting with the representatives of the National Parliament, broadcast on the National Television.

As the Head of State stressed, in this regard, it is necessary to study and analyze the best international experience, norms and principles of constitutional legislation in detail. When developing these proposals, first of all, it is necessary to focus on improving the activities of the state authorities, reviewing their rights, duties and powers.

"The formation of the legal basis for the fundamental transformations envisaged in the new Program of Social and Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2022-2052, the consistent improvement of laws were identified by the Turkmen leader among the most important tasks," the official state media report says.

In this regard, Berdimuhamedov pointed out that amendments and additions introduced to the Basic Law of the country in 2020. Taking into account the fundamental principles and norms of the Constitution, hundreds of laws, codes, and resolutions adopted. The legal basis for the bicameral parliamentary system established, the election of members of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan successfully held in accordance with the new provisions of the Constitution and the Electoral Code of the state.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reminded that this year marks an important date in the modern history of the country – the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Turkmen Constitution, as well as the establishment of the State Flag.

"The Constitution is a legitimate guarantee of our free, calm, peaceful and happy life," the Turkmen leader stated.

The Head of State also stressed the expediency of developing and adopting a concept of improving legislation for the period 2022-2027.
