Earlier we reported that on February 22, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov will pay a working visit to Moscow, during which scheduled talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov are expected.

As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation informs, Meredov and Lavrov will exchange views on topical issues of multifaceted cooperation focusing on trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian as well as educational areas during the talks.

The parties will consider interaction between the two states on the international platforms, such as CIS, UN and OSCE, as well as "CA5+Russia" at the level of Foreign Ministers.

A special topic will be the preparation and holding of the VI Caspian Summit in Turkmenistan. Regional security and joint response to common challenges and threats will also be the subject of negotiations.

According to the source, despite the COVID restrictions, cooperation between the two countries is developing dynamically. Turkmenistan is a strategic partner of Russia in the Central Asian Region, and bilateral relations are based on trusting political dialogue and are traditionally friendly. Common history and converging fundamental interests of the peoples of the two countries are the key to it.

The Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Russia regularly meet in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
