Today is the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Emirates. On the occasion of the significant date, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Turkmenistan Ahmed Al-Hai Al Hameli spoke on the pages of the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper. In his speech, he made an overview of the Turkmen-Emirati cooperation in politics, economy, trade and humanitarian relations, which is gaining momentum every year. In particular, he noted the following.
“The United Arab Emirates and Turkmenistan are linked by a historically established relationship rooted in the distant past. This continues in relations between the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Halifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the President of Turkmenistan, Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The historic visit of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the UAE in October 2021 to participate in the National Day of Turkmenistan on the sidelines of the Expo-2020 Dubai International exhibition was crowned with success. During the visit, 3 agreements and 3 memorandums of understanding were signed.
The UAE is currently a major trading partner of Turkmenistan, with bilateral non-oil trade reaching 398 million USD in 2020 and 501 million USD in 2021.
34 enterprises with the participation of Emirati businessmen are registered in Turkmenistan.
Economic, political and cultural relations between the UAE and Turkmenistan can be a model for cooperation between other countries.
We would like to assure that the UAE, under the leadership of the President of the State His Highness Sheikh Halifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, continues to strengthen relations and intensify cooperation and coordination in all areas that serve development, progress and prosperity. “Since its founding on December 2, 1971, the UAE has adhered to the principle of promoting security, peace and sustainable development in various parts of the region and around the world, taking this principle as a key dimension of the UAE's foreign policy.
The UAE is home to more than 200 nationalities, more than 40 churches and places of worship, as well as many world-class educational and cultural institutions, such as the Sorbonne University in Abu Dhabi, New York University and the Louvre in Abu Dhabi. This is the best evidence that the founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's values of tolerance, religious freedom and mutual respect are rooted in the essence of the Emirati people.
During 2020 and 2021, the UAE has made achievements in various fields at the national, regional and international level. At the same time, the women of the Emirates were at the forefront, partners in the development process and achieved unprecedented success. The UAE government has also focused its efforts on wider openness to the outside world, helping to return to normalcy, attracting talent and business as part of strategic decisions aimed at providing the country with opportunities to improve its position in terms of business facilitation, especially after The UAE was ranked first in the region and fourth in the world in the Entrepreneurship Index according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor GEM-NECI report for 2020, as well as according to the indicators of the best safe destinations for citizens and everyone in the country.
The United Arab Emirates is firmly committed to its role as a supporter and key participant in global efforts to meet the needs of the people. In providing assistance, the UAE has reached a stage of global leadership, which culminated in the assignment of the state to the first place in the world in 2013, 2014, 2016. In 2017, the UAE became the largest donor of official development assistance compared to gross national income, making a historic leap in foreign aid grants.
