Hans Kluge, Director of the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization, arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the international forum of medical scientists "Medical diplomacy - the basis of a healthy world", which opens on October 8. He announced this on his Twitter page.
In the message, the WHO Regional Director for Europe noted that participation in the forum will allow discussing cooperation with the leadership of Turkmenistan in ensuring preparedness for a pandemic and combating it.
Today Hans Kluge was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The fight against the coronavirus pandemic was one of the topics discussed at a meeting with Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said. The interlocutors noted that in order to achieve success in the fight against a common threat, it is necessary to unite the efforts of all member states and UN institutions, using the means and methods of scientific diplomacy
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Sapardurdy Toylyev reported to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the preparations for this forum in honor of the Day of Healthcare and Medical Industry Workers at a government meeting on October 1.
