Representative of Georgia Lasha Talahadze won a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in the weightlifting competition in the weight category over 109 kg. He won with Olympic and world records in snatch, clean and jerk and combined. As a result of two exercises, L. Talahadze gained 488 kg (223 + 265), becoming a two-time Olympic champion. Five years ago, at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he became the champion with the result of 473 kg.
The second was Ali Davudi from Iran - 441 kg (200 + 241). The top three was closed by Man Asaad from Syria - 424 kg (190 + 234).
Turkmen weightlifter Hojamuhammet Toychiev stopped one step away from the medal, taking 4th place. He gained a total of 414 kg (184 + 230), 10 kg behind the bronze medalist.
According to the results of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, the Turkmen national team has one award: silver of Polina Guryeva (weightlifting, up to 59 kg).
