Turkmenistan will purchase new cargo aircraft. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated this today during a working meeting on the development of the transport and communication complex.

“Emphasizing that today the number of air passengers in the world is decreasing, it is necessary to purchase new cargo planes and increase their ability to carry cargo, the leader of the nation emphasized,” the official material of the State News Agency of Turkmenistan said.

Dovran Saburov, chairman of the Turkmen Airlines agency, said at the meeting that regular - once a week - cargo transportation by IL-76 transport aircraft along the Ashgabat - Istanbul - Ashgabat and Ashgabat - Abu Dhabi - Ashgabat routes has already been established. Currently, work is underway to carry out cargo transportation in the luggage compartment of the Boeing B777-200LR aircraft from Asia to Europe and from Europe to Asia.

Taking into account the current situation in the world economy and in this regard, the drop in indicators in the transport industry in connection, the President of Turkmenistan ordered to expand the sphere of services in the field of cargo transportation.

“The agency should take steps to create modern transport and transit corridors in the country's air harbors, to use airports more efficiently,” Berdimuhamedov said.

Addressing the chairman of the agency “Turkmen Airlines” D. Saburov, the head of state also instructed to timely carry out overhaul and current repairs and maintenance of aircraft, as well as take measures to ensure flight safety.
