Today, the two – day international conference "Rational use of water resources-the basis for achieving sustainable development goals", which brought together more than 60 experts from 10 countries, ended in the capital's Yildiz hotel. It was attended by representatives of 9 international and regional organizations implementing projects in the field of water resources management, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.

The conference was initiated by the State Committee of water management and the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Support and practical assistance in the organization of this international meeting was provided by the Global Water Partnership.

The participants of the conference made presentations on the achievements and successes of their countries, shared their experience and outlined the most relevant directions for expanding and deepening regional cooperation in achieving sustainable development Goal 6 - ensuring the availability and rational use of water resources and sanitation for all. Part of the reports of the conference was devoted to the measures taken by the countries of the region to achieve target 6.5-to implement integrated water resources management at all levels by 2030, including through trans boundary cooperation, as appropriate.

Discussions were held on the role of the water partnership at the national and regional levels in assessing progress towards this goal. As a result of the discussions, the participants formulated ideas for strengthening regional cooperation, as well as increased their understanding of the role and capabilities of each of the parties involved in the implementation of the principles of Integrated water resources management.

After the completion of the main program of the conference, today the participants visited the facilities where water-saving technologies are implemented. The host party also took care of the cultural program of the guests who visited the nursery of Turkmen Alabai in etrap AK-Bugdai and were personally convinced of the care and love with which the Turkmen people preserve their traditions and national cultural heritage.
