On the eve in Ashgabat, a concert of Italian music was held, with the participation of one of the most talented Italian pianist Roberto Prosseda. The concert was held on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the death of the famous Italian composer Nino Rota. The event was initiated by the Italian Embassy in Turkmenistan together with the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.

After the concert, the correspondent of Turkmenportal was lucky to have an exclusive interview with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Italian Republic in Turkmenistan Diego Ungaro.

— Please, tell us about the purpose of an organization such a significant event in Turkmenistan?
— The Italian Embassy organizing many cultural events, during the year.  We believe through the culture we can establish better relation between Italian and Turkmen peoples.
— Which kind of events do you plan for the future?
— Yes, we are working now in November for another concert. This will be Pagliacci opera which Ruggero Leoncavallo composed and we are going to perform with some Italian artist and Turkmen singers that are preparing for this important event.
— This year Universiade in Italy and will Turkmen athletes take a part on this sport event? 
— Universiade is the sport event in the city Napoli and big delegation of Turkmenistan who is preparing to leave this will take place in Napoli from the 3rd -14th of July. We hope that Turkmen athletes may win in different disciplines in these important games. Which is after the Olympic Games most important games in the world.
—In which stage Turkmenistan’s and Italia’s relationship?
—We are building the relation to this because we have Italian classes with Italian mother tongue teachers at two Universities in Ashgabat.  We have every year week of Italian design, Italian cinema and I think these activities going repeated and replicated every year.
—Italian design is famous in the world. Do you organize architectural master class or event?
—Well, Italian design is the activity that we organize every year, so we invite architects to come and give lessons at University named after Magtymkuli, International University for the Humanities and Development and Institute of arts. Every year we invite different architectures to do it.
