Head of Bouygues receives a commemorative medal from Turkmenistan

On November 2, a ceremony was held in Paris to present a commemorative medal—marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality—along with a commemorative badge, to Martin Bouygues, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the French group Bouygues.

The award was presented by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to France, Maksat Charyyev, in accordance with a decree issued by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the ceremony, the diplomat stated that the award serves as recognition of Martin Bouygues’ personal contribution to the development of Turkmen-French cooperation. He also expressed gratitude to the leadership and staff of Bouygues for their long-standing work in the country and their role in shaping the modern appearance of Ashgabat. According to the ambassador, over the years of collaboration, specialists from both countries have gained significant experience in implementing large-scale projects.

The statement also highlighted the role of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality in strengthening peace and fostering international dialogue, as well as the contribution made by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag, toward expanding international cooperation—a course that is being consistently pursued by the country’s President.

Martin Bouygues described receiving the medal as a great honor and expressed his gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan. He noted that the country’s policy of permanent neutrality reflects its commitment to following its own path, prioritizing peace, and fostering dialogue. He spoke warmly of the hospitality of the Turkmen people and their cultural heritage, highlighting, in particular, Turkmen carpets and Ahal-Teke horses.

As Martin Bouygues explained, since beginning its operations in Turkmenistan in 1994, the group has completed approximately 70 projects, covering a total area of 1,3 million square meters. These include the Presidential Palace, the mosque in Kipchak, and the “Oguzkent”, “Yyldyz”, and “Arkadag” hotels. He expressed his gratitude to both the Turkmen and French specialists for their collaborative efforts, noting that the group’s team takes particular pride in the fact that these completed structures serve the country’s residents.

In an interview following the ceremony, Martin Bouygues emphasized that the award serves as an additional incentive for the group to continue its work in Turkmenistan and to strengthen ties between the two countries.
