The regional round of the embroidery competition took place in the western region of Turkmenistan

The velayat stage of a competition for skilled craftswomen specializing in traditional Turkmen embroidery took place in Balkanabat.

The contest featured embroiderers who had emerged as winners in the etrap and city rounds held across the region, reports "Turkmenistan: Golden Age."

The primary goal of the showcase is to promote traditional embroidery and instill in the younger generation a love for this national craft. The participants demonstrated a high level of skill: they revealed the intricacies of preparing for embroidery, presented national costumes adorned with exquisite, delicate patterns, and complemented their work with poetic verses, parables, and inspiring stories.

Following the competition, the team of craftswomen from the Esenguly etrap took first place, the team from the city of Balkanabat took second place, and artisans from the city of Turkmenbashy earned third place.

The winners and all participants in the showcase were presented with commemorative gifts.

Embroiderers from the Esenguly etrap will represent the Balkan velayat at the national stage of the competition in Ashgabat.
