Turkmenistan is interested in implementing the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline project

Turkmenistan is interested in the implementation of the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline project and stands ready to supply it with gas. This was stated to journalists by Maksat Babayev, Chairman of the state concern "Turkmengaz," during a press conference following the "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2026" international exhibition and conference.

According to Babayev, Turkmenistan has long taken an interest in the project. He noted that the country is interested not only in the gas pipeline itself, but also in the Trans-Caspian corridor as a whole—including the laying of cables, logistics routes, and port infrastructure.

Babayev emphasized that for the project to be launched, all parties must be interested and prepared to begin work. Turkmenistan, he noted, is ready for this. He believes the negotiation process will continue.

To supply gas to the Trans-Caspian route, it is necessary to carry out the next stage of development of the “Galkynysh” field, Babayev explained.

Responding to a question about negotiations with Azerbaijan, he stated that Turkmenistan, as before, is prepared to sell natural gas at its border.

It was previously reported that plans are in place to supply gas to the European Union via the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline.

The "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2026" international conference and exhibition took place in Ashgabat from October 21 to 23. It brought together approximately 1,7 thousand delegates from 75 countries, representing more than 450 companies and international organizations. The forum was organized by the state concerns "Turkmengaz" and "Turkmennebit," the State Corporation "Turkmengeologiya," and the company Turkmen Energy Forum (TEF).
