The cotton harvest is in full swing in the fields of Turkmenistan. In the Balkan and Dashoguz velayats, farmers are striving to harvest the crop within the optimal timeframe, adhering to agrotechnical standards and minimizing losses.
Balkan velayat
The "Türkmenistan" farmers' association in the Bereket etrap was among the first to begin the harvest. A good crop of this industrial plant has been grown here on an area of 600 hectares. According to the association, ten tenant cotton growers have already fulfilled their contractual obligations for raw cotton production.
Among them is experienced leaseholder Toygeldi Gulatarov. He was one of the first to deliver over 17 tons of raw cotton to the state—a figure that significantly exceeds the planned volume. His plantation covers 13 hectares.
"The 'white harvest' is currently in full swing. There is still plenty of cotton in the fields, which will allow us to exceed our increased targets," the cotton grower said. According to him, the work is aided by the head of state's attention to the harvesting process and by timely payments for the crop, which serve as an incentive for the farmers.
Dashoguz velayat
In Dashoguz velayat, the harvest is also underway in the fields of the “dayhan” associations. Farmers are being assisted by machine operators from the regional "Obahyzmat" enterprise, who are assigned modern, high-performance cotton harvesters of various makes.
This season, the velayat is required to deliver 275 thousand tons of raw cotton to the state. Farmers in the Gubadag, Kunyaurgench, and Boldumsaz etraps are confidently leading the harvest campaign.
Among the major, advanced agricultural enterprises is the diversified Sadulla Rozmetov farm in the Shavat etrap. Its cotton fields cover 7,500 hectares, spanning both the "Was" virgin lands and the cultivated zone. State-of-the-art machinery from leading global manufacturers is being used for the harvest.
Shirin Baltabayeva, a tenant farmer at the "Türkmenistan" “dayhan” association in the Gubadag etrap, and Arslan Saparov, a tenant farmer at the Sadulla Rozmetov “dayhan” association in the Shavat etrap, have already fulfilled their personal contractual obligations for the delivery of raw cotton. They achieved yields of 35 centners or more per hectare.
"Thanks to the successfully implemented new agricultural policy led by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, new opportunities are opening up for farmers to increase cotton production volumes. I am proud to be a cotton grower. Cultivating cotton on my native land is a great joy. Every condition has been created for us," noted Shirin Baltabayeva.
Tenant farmer Teke Arazgeldiev, from the S. Niyazov Farmers' Association in the Gorogly etrap, also demonstrates a responsible approach; this year, he plans to deliver at least 60 tons of raw cotton to the state.
