Ashgabat is being considered as a possible venue for the 2027 SPE Annual Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition.

An SPE delegation discussed the matter during a visit to Turkmenistan, according to materials from the organizing committee of the 31st International Conference and Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan" (OGT 2026).

The conference brings together oil and gas industry engineers, representatives from research organizations and energy companies, and technology suppliers from countries in the region. In previous years, it was held in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. The next event is scheduled for November 24–26, 2026, in Atyrau, Kazakhstan.

As noted, hosting the conference in Turkmenistan would expand access for national engineering professionals and students from specialized universities to international expertise, modern technologies, and engineering solutions. Furthermore, implementing this initiative could strengthen Ashgabat’s position as a regional hub for scientific and technical dialogue and cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
