A digital tool for tracking climate finance was presented in Ashgabat

A two-day interagency practical workshop was held in Ashgabat, featuring the presentation and practical testing of the pilot version of the Digital Climate Finance Tracking Tool (DCFTT). This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

This innovative platform was developed within the framework of the joint project of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) titled "Enhancing Turkmenistan’s Capacity to Access Climate Finance through Capacity Building and Strategic Frameworks." The project aims to strengthen the country's institutional readiness to attract climate investments in strategic sectors such as sustainable land management, agriculture, and forestry.

Metodija Dimovski, an international FAO consultant on climate finance, provided participants with a detailed overview of the DCFTT system architecture and its key functional capabilities, placing particular emphasis on the clear delineation of project cycle stages.

A key component of the seminar was an interactive live simulation, during which specialists from Turkmenistan’s national agencies tested the functionality of user accounts and practiced data entry and verification procedures. Particular attention was paid to issues of information confidentiality and data access control, taking into account the requirements of national authorities.

The implementation of the DCFTT digital tool aims to establish a more systematic framework for tracking climate finance flows, supporting decision-making based on structured information, and analyzing the financial aspects of implementing Turkmenistan’s climate priorities, including measures outlined in the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
