Pakistan and Turkmenistan have expressed their readiness to resume cargo and commercial flights between the two countries in the near future. This was announced by Faryal Leghari, Pakistan's ambassador to Ashgabat, according to the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.

Pakistan and Turkmenistan could derive significant benefits by focusing on regional connectivity through road and rail networks, in addition to direct air links. "It is gratifying to note that both sides have expressed a readiness to resume cargo and commercial flights in the near future," Legari wrote in an article marking the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.

According to the diplomat, direct air links will not only help deepen people-to-people contacts but also foster the development of bilateral trade and cooperation in the fields of healthcare, education, and sports.

Leghari reminded that Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize Turkmenistan's independence. She stated that the diplomatic relations established during the formative period of Turkmen statehood have since served as the foundation for strong friendship and sustained dialogue between the two nations. The ambassador noted that Turkmenistan's policy of permanent neutrality and Pakistan's commitment to regional security and stability complement each other.
