YouTube has announced the "Custom Feeds" feature, which will allow users to create separate video tabs tailored to specific moods or interests.

To customize the feed, the user will need to describe what they would like to see in their own words within a dedicated prompt box. Examples include phrases like "an evening of long-form documentaries" or "new DIY creators." The service will then select suitable videos based on this description.

Users will be able to create and save multiple personalized feeds. According to Wired, these will appear alongside other tabs below the search bar. TechCrunch reports that the feature is powered by the Gemini AI model.

YouTube explained that users regularly ask for more control over the recommendation algorithm. According to company representatives, the new feature will allow them to "precisely describe what they want."

Custom Feeds will "soon" become available to users in the US on the web, mobile devices, and TVs. The company has not disclosed the exact launch dates or plans for rolling out the feature in other countries.
