A regular session of the Halk Maslahaty—the country’s supreme representative body, which operates in accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan and represents the interests of the people—has begun in Ashgabat.

The meeting is taking place at the Maslahat Köşgi Palace. It is being chaired by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Deputies of the Mejlis, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of ministries and agencies, honorary elders, and representatives of public organizations, the mass media, and the general public are participating in the meeting.

On the agenda are issues aimed at ensuring the well-being of the people and the further socio-economic development of Turkmenistan.

As reported at the July 15 meeting of the Presidium of the Halk Maslahaty—where preparations for the current session were discussed—participants are set to review the achievements and milestones reached by independent Turkmenistan, as well as discuss events marking the country’s independence anniversary and the nomination of compatriots for state awards and honorary titles.

The previous session of the Halk Maslahaty took place on September 19, 2025, in Ashgabat.

The Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan is the supreme representative body of people's power, established on January 21, 2023. Its activities are governed by the Constitutional Law "On the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan" and are based on the principles of democracy, transparency, justice, the rule of law, and regard for public opinion, serving as a link between the state and society.
