The Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan expressed its gratitude to the Turkmen side for its assistance in organizing the voting for the election of deputies to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the ninth convocation.

According to the diplomatic mission, 585 people cast their votes in the elections in Turkmenistan on September 20. "We thank all Russian citizens residing in Turkmenistan who came to fulfill their civic duty. We note the warm and friendly atmosphere at all polling stations," the embassy stated.

The diplomats also thanked the Turkmen side for its assistance in conducting the vote. "The comprehensive support provided by our Turkmen friends in holding such an important event once again reaffirms the strategic nature of the deepened cooperation between our countries and the high level of mutual understanding," the embassy noted.

Polling stations for Russian citizens opened at 8:00 local time in five cities in Turkmenistan: Ashgabat, Turkmenbashy, Turkmenabat, Mary, and Dashoguz.

Election Results in Russia

According to preliminary data, the United Russia party is leading in the elections for the ninth State Duma, securing 57,83% of the vote. Ella Pamfilova, Chair of the Russian Central Election Commission, announced this on Monday. She stated that voter turnout stood at 59,32%, surpassing the 2021 figure, when 51,72% of voters went to the polls.
