On September 16, Turkmenistan hosted educational and awareness-raising events for schoolchildren to mark the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, aiming to boost the environmental literacy of the younger generation and foster a responsible attitude toward the environment.

The primary focus was on the preservation of the ozone layer, its role in protecting life on Earth from harmful ultraviolet radiation, and the importance of environmentally responsible behavior in everyday life. Participants formed teams of ten, presented their names, slogans, and captains, and then completed several educational stages.

In the first stage, "Question and Answer," schoolchildren demonstrated their knowledge regarding the importance of the ozone layer, the causes of its depletion, ozone-depleting substances, and the household appliances that may use the corresponding refrigerants.

In the second stage—the "Eco-logistics" practical game—participants were asked to identify goods and everyday items that could have a negative impact on the environment and to select more eco-friendly alternatives. The students discussed their decisions and explained their choice of safer options.

The third stage, the "Captains' Contest," required team captains to prepare addresses to the general public, young people, or representatives of enterprises based on specific environmental scenarios. Evaluation criteria included the persuasiveness of the presentation, emotional expressiveness, and the accuracy of the environmental information provided.

Visual materials illustrating the depletion of the ozone layer and the effects of ultraviolet radiation were also presented during the events. The organizers noted that such initiatives foster an environmental mindset among young people and raise awareness of global environmental issues, while also highlighting the need for the state, the international community, and individuals to work together to protect the ozone layer.
