From 9 to 15 September, the University of Naples Federico II (Italy) hosted a coordination meeting and a series of seminars dedicated to the sustainability and further development of the Erasmus+ project “Development of Innovative Curricula and Modules in Circular Economy and Sustainable Development” (CirculEC).

The project has been implemented since 2023 and is scheduled to continue until 2026. Its main objective is to develop educational programmes and introduce modern learning modules related to the principles of the circular economy and sustainable development, taking into account current requirements in higher education and international experience.

Turkmenistan was represented at the events by Rustam Gadjiev, Specialist at the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan; Arslan Matkarimov, Lecturer at the Department of Digital Economy of the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management; and Shokhrat Byashimov, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Banking of the Turkmen State Institute of Finance.

The coordination meeting was also attended by coordinators and representatives of higher education institutions from the Central Asian partner countries — Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan — as well as representatives of European organisations participating in the project.

During the meeting, representatives of the partner institutions presented updates on the current implementation of the project, the results achieved and the ongoing work to introduce the developed educational modules and innovative curricula. Particular attention was paid to the exchange of experience among participating universities, the discussion of the next stages of the project and measures aimed at ensuring the sustainability of the results achieved.

Special attention was also given to prospects for further international cooperation. The participants discussed opportunities for joint involvement of partner institutions in new educational and research initiatives, as well as prospects for strengthening academic ties between higher education institutions of Central Asia and Europe.

Such events contribute to further strengthening international cooperation in education, promoting academic exchange and developing modern approaches to the training of specialists in the fields of circular economy and sustainable development.
