The 10th North and Central Asia Multi-Stakeholder Forum on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals is taking place in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from September 15 to 17, organized by the Subregional Office of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). Elita Shumskaya and Lachyn Veliyeva, chief specialists at the Department of Strategic and Sustainable Development of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, are participating in the event.
During the forum's first session, which focused on the experience of North and Central Asian countries in preparing Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs), Lachyn Veliyeva spoke about the process of preparing Turkmenistan’s third VNR, which the country is set to present in New York in 2027.
Within the framework of the discussion on Sustainable Development Goal 15, "Life on Land," Elita Shumskaya presented Turkmenistan's experience in implementing this goal. The presentation highlighted the country's achievements in reforestation, combating desertification, and biodiversity conservation.
