Turkmenistan will participate in the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in 2026

The Turkmenistan U-15 national football team will participate in the 2026 FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival. The inaugural edition of the tournament will take place in Azerbaijan from October 22 to 31, 2026.

As previously reported, teams from all FIFA member associations will participate in the competition.

The group composition for the upcoming tournament has been published on the "Footballium" Telegram channel, run by Alisher Nikimbaev—a prominent Uzbek football expert and FIFA match director. Following the draw, Turkmenistan was placed in group “L” alongside the national teams of Italy, Qatar, Hong Kong (China), Benin, and the Cook Islands.

The tournament is organized as a football festival and is part of a global program for developing young talent. The competition aims to identify promising players at an early stage, improve their technical skills, develop their game intelligence, and prepare them for future international tournaments, including the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The matches will be played in an 8-a-side format (including the goalkeeper); this format was designed specifically for this age group and allows players to handle the ball more frequently, make more in-game decisions, and participate more actively in attacking plays.

Players born in 2011 and 2012 are eligible to participate in the tournament. Each team will register 14 players—including at least two goalkeepers—as well as six coaching staff members.

The competition consists of two stages: a qualifying stage and a tournament stage. All participants will play matches throughout the entire competition period, regardless of their results in individual stages.
