Ashgabat issues reminder on rules for the economical and safe use of gas

The “Ashgabatgaz” Directorate has called upon the residents of Ashgabat to use natural gas rationally and carefully, emphasizing that it is one of the country's key natural resources. The relevant announcement has been published in the “Ashgabat” newspaper; it provides both reference information on payment procedures and detailed safety guidelines for handling gas equipment.

According to the department, the charge for gas consumption is calculated based on gas meter readings: 1000 cubic meters of gas cost 20 manats. You can pay for the service remotely—via the "Milli ÝJH" mobile apps or the e.gov.tm portal—or in person at the following service centers: in Kopetdag District (189 Oguzhan Street; tel.: 95-59-68, 95-59-78), Buzmeyin etrap (Buzmeyin Residential Complex, 4A Tayjir Street; tel.: 35-32-19), and Bagtyyarlyk etrap (Ruhabat Residential Complex, 5 Garagum Street; tel.: 24-50-04).

Particular attention is paid to equipment maintenance. “Ashgabatgaz” reminds customers that installed meters must undergo mandatory verification every five years at the laboratory of the State Reference Center "Türkmenstandartlary"; in the event of a malfunction, the department should be contacted at the following address: 189 Oguzhan Street, Kopetdag etrap.

The agency emphasized that only factory-made gas equipment meeting safety standards is permitted; the unauthorized installation of makeshift stoves or appliances is prohibited. It was also noted that residents of buildings with central heating are not allowed to install gas heating appliances, and any unauthorized modification of the gas piping system is illegal.

A significant portion of the notice is devoted to practical rules for the use of gas appliances: the need to ventilate the room while they are in operation, the prohibition against altering ventilation and flue systems, the mandatory checking of chimney draft before and after using heating appliances, and the inadmissibility of leaving cookware filled to the brim with water on the stove. It is specifically noted that gas appliances must not be used by young children or individuals unfamiliar with the rules for handling gas, and that sleeping or resting in a room where gas equipment is installed is prohibited.

“Ashgabatgaz” urged the capital's residents to strictly observe the listed rules, noting that the safety of their homes and lives depends directly on doing so.
