Representatives of Turkmenistan participated in the meeting of the CAREC tourism working group

A meeting of the Tourism Working Group of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program Secretariat took place in Tashkent on September 9–11.

Representatives from the public and private tourism sectors of CAREC member countries—Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan—participated in the meeting.

According to the website of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, a regional tourism development project for 2026–2030 was discussed during the meeting. In his remarks, a representative of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan noted the country's significant potential for tourism development and highlighted the contribution of the CAREC Program in this area. The Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan also submitted its proposals for the regional technical assistance project in the tourism sector for 2026–2030.

On the final day of the meeting, participants learned about the experience of the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand and the UN Tourism Academy.

A tour of Samarkand's tourist attractions was also organized for the participants.
