The 83rd Venice International Film Festival concluded in Venice on September 12; the event ran from September 2 to 12. The main competition jury, chaired by Maggie Gyllenhaal, determined the winners of the festival's top awards.

The festival's top prize, the Golden Lion, went to the Danish-Swedish-Latvian drama “The Unknown Woman”, directed by May el-Toukhy. The same film also earned actress Trine Dyrholm the Volpi Cup for Best Actress.

The Grand Jury Prize went to the South Korean drama “Possible Love” by director Lee Chang-dong. The award for Best Director (the Silver Lion) was presented to Ilya Khrzhanovsky for the film “DAU”.

John Malkovich received the award for Best Actor for his performance in Martin McDonagh’s dark comedy “Wild Horse”. The award for Best Screenplay went to Stéphane Brizé, Coralie Amédéo, and Olivier Gorce for the French film “A Good Little Soldier”.

The Special Jury Prize was awarded to the documentary “NAZA” by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, which focuses on Israel's use of artificial intelligence in airstrikes on Gaza. The film became one of the most discussed works in a political context at the festival.

The Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor or Actress was presented to Malou Hebizi for her role in Cédric Kahn’s film “A Good Doctor”.

In the parallel "Horizons" section, the top prize went to the film “Diane in the Loop” by Anne Sirot and Raphaël Balboni. The directing award in this section was presented to Jacqueline Lentzou, while the Special Jury Prize went to the film “House of Wind” by Auguste Bernard Kuemo Yang.

In addition, an honorary Golden Lion for lifetime achievement in cinema was presented at the festival to George Clooney, in recognition of his career as an actor, director, and producer.
