The price of gas in Europe has exceeded 1000 USD per thousand cubic meters for the first time since 2022

On Monday, September 14, the price of gas on the European ICE exchange exceeded 1000 USD per 1000 cubic meters during trading for the first time since December 2022. The price of October futures at the Dutch TTF hub reached 1004 USD, equivalent to 84,07 euros per megawatt-hour.

Just a week ago, spot gas prices for "day-ahead" delivery at Europe's major trading hubs rose above the psychological threshold of 1000 USD. For instance, at the TTF hub, the price reached 1005 USD—or 83,685 euros per MWh.

Thus, October futures—a key market indicator—have only now caught up to the level the spot market had already reached earlier.
