During a working visit to the city of Arkadag, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov—National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan—expressed dissatisfaction with the condition of the stadium where the “Arkadag” football club trains and plays international matches. This was reported by TDH.
A working meeting was held in the city of Arkadag under the leadership of the National Leader, attended by D. Orazov, Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of the City of Arkadag under the President of Turkmenistan, and G. Mammedova, the city’s mayor.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty noted that the country places special emphasis on promoting the principles of a healthy lifestyle and protecting public health; consequently, it is important to ensure the proper maintenance and effective use of existing multi-purpose sports complexes and stadiums.
According to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the “Arkadag” football team is currently achieving significant success on the international stage; however, the current state of the stadium where the team trains and hosts opponents for international matches does not meet the required standards.
According to the National Leader, the situation arose due to a lack of coordinated interaction between the Arkadag City Department of Physical Culture and Sports, the management of “Arkadag” Stadium, and the city administration.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov warned that strict measures would be taken against the officials responsible if steps were not taken to properly maintain the stadium.
Let us remind you that on September 15, the players of the Turkmen “Arkadag” will start in the group round of the AFC-2 Champions League with a home match against the Bahrain “Al-Muharraq”. The match will take place in the city of Arkadag at the stadium of the same name, which can accommodate 10 thousand spectators. The meeting starts at 18:45 Ashgabat time.
