The director of the project office of the Regional Ecological Center of Central Asia (RECCA) in Turkmenistan Mergen Kepbanov and the ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in Turkmenistan Azizbek Madmarov held a meeting to discuss the prospects of further development of regional cooperation between the countries of Central Asia in the field of environmental protection, climate change, sustainable development and ecological education. Mergen Kepbanov presented in detail the activities of RETCA, its role in the development of regional ecological cooperation and the main directions of the implemented work. Special attention was paid to the activities of the RECCA project office in Turkmenistan, which promotes the implementation of regional and national initiatives in the field of environmental protection, sustainable management of natural resources, adaptation to climate change, preservation of biodiversity and development of ecological potential.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the Central Asian Conference on Climate Change (CACIC) - one of the most important regional platforms for the exchange of experience and discussion of topical issues of climate policy, adaptation to climate change and sustainable development.

Next, the parties discussed the plan for 2027, including it was noted that the 9th Central Asian Conference on Climate Change (CCC-2027) is planned to be held in Bishkek as part of the Mountain Summit. Mergen Kepbanov emphasized the readiness of the RAC to provide assistance in the development of regional cooperation and support initiatives related to the preparation and implementation of TsAKIK-2027.

An important part of the meeting was the discussion of education and training of young specialists for work in the field of environment, climate change and sustainable development. The importance of creating additional opportunities for obtaining high-quality professional education for young specialists from the countries of Central Asia is thus emphasized.

There was also an exchange of views regarding the prospects of further cooperation between the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Turkmenistan and the project office of the RECCA in Turkmenistan. The parties expressed their interest in the development of cooperation on the environmental, climate and educational agenda, as well as in the expansion of the participation of representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic in regional events and initiatives of the RECCA.

Participation in regional conferences and expert events, exchange of experience, development of environmental education and training of young specialists were noted among the promising areas of interaction.
