The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the opening ceremony of the VI World Nomad Games, which took place on August 31 at the Bishkek Arena stadium in the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The event was attended by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and high-ranking guests from member and partner countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Representatives from 106 countries, including 2355 athletes, coaches and delegation members, took part in the opening ceremony.
From August 31 to September 6, 2026, Kyrgyzstan will host the VI World Nomad Games, a program featuring over 40 national sports, including Turkmen wrestling. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held in Bishkek, with the main competitions taking place in Lake Issyk-Kul.
