On September 1, 2026, the traditional Road Safety Month began in all regions of Turkmenistan, under the motto "Road Safety – Peace of Mind."

This large-scale campaign is an important element of state policy in the area of law enforcement and the protection of the lives and health of citizens. The tradition of holding an annual month-long event was established on June 7, 2013, when a proposal to strengthen preventative work on the roads was voiced at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. Since then, the event has become an integral part of the country's social calendar, annually demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing accidents and improving driving standards.

Within the framework of the month-long campaign, the country's ministries and agencies have joined forces to conduct a large-scale educational campaign. Thematic conferences, seminars, and meetings with specialists are being held at businesses and educational institutions at all levels, from schools to universities. The events are aimed at explaining current legislation, reminding people of the importance of following traffic rules, and improving road safety among both drivers and pedestrians.

The start of the campaign coincided with the beginning of the new school year, leading to the introduction of enhanced security measures near kindergartens, schools, and universities. Eco-bike teams from the Road Inspection Service have begun patrolling adjacent areas. At the same time, traffic police officers have stepped up enforcement of speed limits and pedestrian crossing regulations near educational institutions.

The basis of the work carried out is the Law of Turkmenistan "On Road Safety", which defines the principles of protecting the life and health of citizens on the roads. Administrative measures are applied to persons who violate established rules in accordance with the Code of Turkmenistan “On Administrative Offenses.”
