Ten members of the Turkmenistan national judo team took part in the Grand Slam tournament, which took place in Lausanne, Switzerland, from August 28 to 30. The competition brought together 513 athletes from 77 countries.

On the first day of the tournament, August 28, Maysa Pardaeva competed in the 57 kg weight class, losing to Eteri Liparteliani (Georgia) in the round of 32. In the same men's weight class, Serdar Rahimov posted the best result of the day among Turkmen athletes: defeating Michael Fryer (Great Britain) and Lukas Saha (Finland), he reached the quarterfinals, where he lost to Shinsei Hattori of Japan. In the repechage draw for the final, Rakhimov lost to Vadim Chernov of Ukraine, falling just short of a medal.

In the 60 kg category, Ural Bahtiyarov and Ygtyyar Gurbanberdiev exited in the round of 32, losing to Samariddin Kuchkarov (Uzbekistan) and Kobe Chavez (Chile), respectively. In the women's 57 kg category, Medina Oraznyyazova was eliminated at the same stage, losing to Inbal Shemesh (Israel).

On the second day of competition, August 29, judokas competed in the 73 and 81 kg weight classes. Meylis Shamuradov (73 kg) defeated Vietnam's Ngoc Dung Phan in the first round, but lost to Russia's Danil Lavrentyev in the round of 32. His teammate, Allamyrat Annagurbanov, was eliminated from the medal race in the first round, losing to Hungary's Aron Szabo.

Batyr Merdanov and Agajan Ayhanov competed in the 81 kg category. Merdanov lost in his first bout to Tajikistan's Abubakr Sherov, while Ayhanov lost to Italy's Bright Maddaloni Nosa.

On the final day of the tournament, August 30, Baymyrat Madzhanov competed in the 100 kg category, achieving the best result among Turkmen athletes at the tournament. After defeating George Udzilauri (Germany) and Gildo Domingos (Angola), he reached the round of 16, where he faced Japan's Tetta Hamada and lost.

Following the tournament, the Turkmenistan team was left without medals. The Russian team topped the medal table, winning seven medals: two gold, one silver, and four bronze.
