The number of billionaires worldwide reached a record 3 795 by the end of 2025, with a combined wealth of 15,1 trillion USD, according to a report by the analytics firm Altrata.

According to the study, the 8,2% increase in the number of billionaires was the largest in the past five years. Analysts attribute this to rising stock markets, monetary stimulus measures, and the investment boom in artificial intelligence.

Over the past year, 287 new members have joined the billionaires' club. Their numbers have increased by nearly 60% over the last decade.

The combined wealth of billionaires rose by 12,8% compared to 2024, reaching a record 15,1 trillion USD. According to the report's authors, this figure is equivalent to nearly a quarter of the total market capitalization of the S&P 500 index.

The average net worth of a billionaire is currently 4 billion USD, whereas the median figure is around 2 billion USD. Analysts note that this discrepancy reflects the uneven distribution of wealth within the group.

The report singles out a category of "super-billionaires"—individuals with a net worth exceeding 50 billion USD. This group comprises 29 people who collectively control 27% of the total wealth held by billionaires. By comparison, this group accounted for just 7% in 2017.
