The Iranian Embassy is preparing for Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's visit to Turkmenistan to participate in international forums scheduled for October in Awaza. This was announced by Iranian Ambassador to Ashgabat Ali Mojtaba Rouzbehani, according to a Turkmenportal correspondent.

"Our president received an invitation to three important forums that will be held in Turkmenistan, in Awaza, in October, and warmly welcomed their relevance and implementation. “We are currently preparing to organize the Iranian President’s visit to Turkmenistan to participate in these events,” Rouzbehani said at a briefing at the Iranian embassy.

As previously reported, three important summits will be held in the “Awaza” National Tourist Zone from October 7 to 9, including the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, the CIS Council of Heads of State, and the Caspian Environmental Summit.

"Participation in the upcoming forums is an honorable and important event for us within the framework of bilateral, international, and regional cooperation," the diplomat noted.

Speaking about relations between the two countries, the ambassador noted that they have deep historical roots. "The relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkmenistan are deeply rooted, based on good neighborliness, mutual respect, shared interests, and historical and cultural ties." “The two countries have demonstrated over the past years that they can create new directions for the development of their relations through dialogue and cooperation,” he said.

According to the ambassador, energy remains a key area of bilateral cooperation. Iran and Turkmenistan have long-standing experience of cooperation in the gas and electricity sectors, and there remains potential for expansion.

Rouzbehani also highlighted the two countries' transit potential. "Iran could become a route for Central Asian countries to access open waters, and Turkmenistan could play an important role in connecting Iran with Central Asia and beyond," he said, adding that developing rail, road, and sea routes could help increase trade and reduce transportation costs.

The ambassador described the Caspian Sea as one of the most important areas of cooperation between the countries. He stated that Iran and Turkmenistan share common interests in protecting the Caspian marine environment, developing maritime cooperation, regional security and stability, and implementing agreements on the legal status of the sea.

The diplomat also drew attention to the cultural and humanitarian component of relations, reminding the shared legacy of such poets and thinkers as Magtymguly Fragi, Hoja Yusup Hamadani, Nurmuhammed Andalib, and Dovletmamed Azadi.
