Russian schools will officially ban the use of mobile phones during lessons starting September 1, 2026, RBC reports.

According to the Ministry of Education's order, students are prohibited from using mobile phones during classes. Exceptions are made for situations that pose a threat to the life or health of students or school staff, as well as other emergency situations.

This specifically refers to the use of phones in class, not a complete ban on gadgets on school grounds. Each school will be able to establish its own rules regarding smartphone use during breaks.
