Turkmenistan was represented at the VII International Film Festival of Russia and CIS Countries Lendoc Film Festival (LEFF), which was held in St. Petersburg from August 20 to 22.
This year's film program featured films from 13 countries: Russia, India, Tajikistan, Iran, China, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Mauritania, and Latvia. Some films were produced in collaboration.
Filmmakers from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as part of a non-competition program, presented the feature film "Magtymguly" for screening. This is a biopic about the XVIII-century Turkmen poet and thinker, jointly filmed for the 300th anniversary of his birth (2024).
The LEFF festival serves as a platform for the creation of joint film projects and the strengthening of business ties between filmmakers from the CIS and neighboring countries. Since 2021, the “LenDoc” Film Studio has been a member of the CIS Film Studios Council, which aims to create joint projects and strengthen cultural ties between friendly countries.
