A delegation from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of China, led by Erkin Tuniyaz, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Communist Party of China in the region and Chairman of the People's Government of the XUAR, arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit. The Chinese guests' itinerary includes talks on expanding trade and economic cooperation and implementing joint projects in agriculture, science, education, and technology, according to the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.

Within the framework of the program, the delegation visited the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. The guests were introduced to the work of specialized laboratories equipped with research equipment from leading global manufacturers, as well as to the developments of Turkmen scientists in the fields of physical, chemical, biological, genetic, and technical research.

The delegation also held a meeting with the leadership of the Ashgabat city administration, where they discussed work to expand mutually beneficial partnerships between the parties.

In the afternoon, negotiations were held with representatives of Turkmenistan's agricultural sector – the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the State Concern "Türkmenpagta", as well as with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers in charge of the agro-industrial complex.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects of trade, economic, and agricultural cooperation. The Turkmen side emphasized the priority of attracting investment, implementing innovations and international expertise in the modernization of the agricultural sector, as well as developing transport and logistics services and holding joint business forums and exhibitions. Representatives of the XUAR supported proposals to intensify the partnership and outlined reciprocal initiatives.

Particular attention during the negotiations was given to cultural and humanitarian cooperation – the exchange of students and teachers, and the organization of internships for young scientists.

The parties also discussed cooperation in environmental protection and water-saving technologies in the agricultural sector. Given the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's experience in the rational use of land and water resources and combating desertification, the Turkmen side expressed its readiness to implement joint research programs.

Following the talks, the parties expressed confidence that the visit would give impetus to the development of Turkmen-Chinese relations. The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region delegation's visit to China continues.
