During the working visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, to Afghanistan, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the “Turkmengaz” State Concern and the “Afghan Gas” State Corporation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, TDH reported.

The document opens a new chapter in bilateral cooperation in the gas sector. According to the agreements reached, the parties intend to work together to create specialized gas transportation infrastructure in the Afghan province of Herat, as well as to supply Turkmen natural gas to industrial enterprises, power plants, and the province's population, the statement noted.

The signing was preceded by negotiations between the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs Abdul Ghani Baradar, during which the parties discussed issues of cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, including the implementation of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, and the development of transport and electricity infrastructure.
