Toyota Motor has given the Yaris Cross crossover a minor facelift in its GR Sport variant. This model is intended for the Japanese domestic market.

All trim levels of the car are now fitted with a media system featuring a 10,5-inch screen and high-definition (HD) display.

Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel have also been added as standard, and a Nanoe X air purifier has been fitted in the cabin. The exterior changes are minimal — the wing mirror housings and the aerial are now painted black.

In Japan, the Yaris Cross GR Sport is available with a 1,5-litre petrol engine producing 120 l.s., which is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The hybrid version is based on the same 1,5-litre engine, producing 91 l.s., combined with an 80 l.s. electric motor, operating in a parallel configuration. The all-wheel-drive version of the hybrid uses the e-Four system, which features an additional 5,3 l.s. electric motor on the rear axle that engages when pulling away or when the tyres lack sufficient grip.

The price of the updated Yaris Cross GR Sport in Japan starts at 2 789 600 yen, which is equivalent to approximately 17,7 thousand USD.
