The Chairman-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, visited the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat upon his arrival in Turkmenistan, where he thanked the mission's staff for their work.
As Cassis noted, the organization's strength lies in its work on the ground. The OSCE Centre in Ashgabat has been operating since 1999 and provides assistance to Turkmenistan on a wide range of security issues, from arms control and border security to economic and environmental cooperation, as well as the promotion of human rights and good governance.
The visit is taking place within the framework of Switzerland's Chairmanship of the OSCE.
